I am glad that we have a Heavenly Father we can depend on at all times for any reason. I have been thinking alot this week about this Special day and the Lord has guided me into something I would like to share with the rest of you. Some of us have had wonderful father/child relationships, while others have not had such relationships. Maybe you don't live very close to family so you have not been able to share in those kinds of memories. Then, some may not have ever known their father because of death or divorce. There are even those who maybe lived with their father all their life but because of physical or verbal abuse have a hard time even thinking good thoughts about their father or wanting to even be around. I know their are others where there was always so much tension between them and their father that it is difficult to remember any good things even though there may be some.
I am so grateful that we can bring these things before our Mighty God and
we can call him Abba, Father and He will wrap His Loving arms around us and comfort us.
But, I have to say that this week as I listened to a sermon by Charles Stanley and he talked about God, our Fathers and Forgiveness,it reminded me of how many times I have had to go to my Heavenly Father and asked forgiveness for not loving my family as I ought. I was also reminded of how God says " Honor your Father and Mother, this is the first commandment with a promise that all will go well with thee and thou may have long life on this earth. "
Did you read anywhere in there where it said, Honor your Father & Mother
if they are nice to you, if they speak kindly to you, or better yet if they do everything right?
NO!! He just says HONOR them and receive my Promise.
Well, that did it for me. It's true my Dad is far from perfect but I know that I want to glorify God and one way to do that is to obey Him and I can begin by
"HONORING MY DAD!"
So, as this day comes to a close I want to encourage you to do just that and
Thank your Father for your father.
